FOOD ALLERGIES & INTOLERANCES
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
We are a small, busy working kitchen where a wide range of foods are prepared & baked fresh each day.
We handle all 14 regulated allergens, including nuts, gluten, dairy, eggs, soya and sesame, often in ground, grated or other high-risk forms.
We have shared preparation areas and equipment and do not have separate allergen-free preparation facilities.
Although we take a lot of care to minimise cross-contact, we cannot guarantee that any food or drink is free from traces of allergens.
If you have a severe or life-threatening allergy, please speak to us before ordering so you can decide whether eating here is appropriate for you.
Please speak to a member of staff BEFORE ordering if you have a food allergy or intolerance.
We take allergies seriously and have allergen information available for all our food and drinks. Please ask us and we will be happy to check the current information for you.

WE SERVE

Our wonderful local suppliers include Dales Dairy, Lonton Coffee, Yorvale Ice Cream, Class One Fruit and Veg, Weatherheads Butchers and West Berwick Farm and we use eco cleaning products wherever we can, from the Yorkshire company Miniml.
MENUS
We have a good selection of food that is served all day long. There are hearty options, healthy options, vegan and meaty options, so something to suit everyone. Many of our dishes are made without gluten or dairy or can be adapted so that they are - we have sourced incredible gluten free and vegan bread that is so much better than anything available in the supermarkets! We have a great range of homemade savoury food, salads and cakes. We an also provide takeaway food, and serve our special "Vintage Afternoon Tea" as voted in the top 7 in the UK under £30pp by The Times newspaper, April 2024.
VINTAGE AFTERNOON TEAS
Our popular vintage afternoon teas are a feast of homemade goodies and are served on genuine vintage china and three tiered cake stands. Available from 3.30pm onwards and must be pre-booked. Please click here for our online booking page.
£26.95 per head including pot of tea or a coffee of your choice. (Add Prosecco £5.95). Special diets can be catered for. £15.95 for children.
Also available to order as a takeaway - nicely boxed up. £17.95 per head (food only).
PRIVATE PARTIES
The cafe is available from 6pm any day of the week (subject to availability) for private events. We can do a special evening events menu or private vintage tea parties. Please email info@theoldschooltearoom.com to enquire.
